Bee's Dick at Black Rock

Roosters v Black Rock

12 October 2013

Well, they don't get too much closer than this:

Roosters: two rubbers; four sets; 36 games
Black Rock: two rubbers; four sets; 39 games

Result: Roosters plucked by just three games.
And, of course, all those moments when we had several game/set points etc come readily to mind.

BUT - at least this was nothing like the Socceroos' consecutive 0-6 thrashings.
Congrats to Brian and Neale - making their first appearance together since last season's final - who won both their matches.
This was especially impressive, as Brian had arrived with all that is needed for an afternoon's competition except for one thing: a racquet. Oh yes - the thing you swing with.
LUCKILY, Neale - God's gift to tennis stores - had arrived with his latest NEW racquet. And selflessly donated it to Brian for the afternoon. Greater love hath no man etc etc..

Unfortunately, games and sets won by N and B were ever-so-slightly offset by results of the pair from the Seniors' Corner, Forrest and Yuri, who couldn't quite get the games needed - despite two respectable 4-6 sets in amongst some slightly less impressive results. They get points for effort but, sadly, got no points for Roosters.

Respectable result given tricky conditions (sunny, windy, dry courts...) but no cigar.
It was hot out there on Saturday

At least no coach was sacked as a result (hello Holger!).

NEXT Saturday, 19 Oct  - at home v Our Old Pals from Parkdale:

Nick, Peter J, Mark and Sean Collins (Roosters' debut!)

PLEASE CONFIRM.

On we go.

Thanks, Forrest

And Finally...

CLUB CHAMPS (from the incredibly hip Club's newsletter...zzzzzzzz)

This year we plan to stagger them over two
weekends commencing Friday evening, 28th March 2014 through to Sunday 6th
April.

Players will be asked to be available for the two weekends to ensure we can get
through the early rounds and re-group for the finals over the following weekend.
A detailed rationale of reasons for the change is on the noticeboard in the
clubhouse and the website. (actually the Greeks requested it so they'll be fit)
