A brief report, only because psychologists recommend NOT brooding on setbacks.
Besides, it is not actually clear that anyone actually reads these things.
Some, it is clear, pay as much attention as they do to rosters...
First: the good news. Dennis and Brian excelled. Especially good effort from Dennis, who is now able to park in handicapped zones because of all the strapping on his knees. Brian, now with a VERY impressive set of tyres on his car, quietly and efficiently went about his business.
The bad news, though, is it all added up to another defeat, though a narrow one. Would actually have been two rubbers apiece had D and B got over the line in their second set. Instead, the lads just went down in a deciding (third set) tie-break.
Yuri and Forrest, neither of whom were actually meant to be playing, sadly got thumped while D and B did the thumping on an adjoining court in the first matches. Y and F fared much better later on, but that's pretty much what Napoleon said after his appointment at Waterloo.
So: another loss. Hard not to feel that a victory would have been chalked up if the team as selected had hit the courts.
Thanks to Peter D, El President, our lone supporter.
And to the Port team, fine hosts (a BBQ!) and better players on a frustrating afternoon.
