Men's Penant Results Round 12

Last weekend’s Pennant Tie had it all.

There was action, drama, tension tragedy and triumph. Besides all that, it was a most enjoyable afternoon to play tennis and we were finished by 3pm.

The short version of the story was that we drew 32 games each against strong opponents Dunstan Park TC and so we share 7 points each.

Well done to the team of Yuri, Nosti, Alan and Nick for this great effort. Thanks too, for all the support that we had from Club members (Peter, Kevin, Jackie and others) who came along to support.

The draw puts us in 3rd place (refer the ladder below) with 2 rounds remaining. I am confident that we’ll make the finals, but it is uncertain where we’ll finish up. As I’ve mentioned,. 1st place plays 4th and 2nd place plays 3rd place. The other point to note is the finals are played at the 1st place and 2nd place teams home ground. Given the ladder below, if we finish in 3rd or 4th place, we’ll be travelling a significant for the finals (likely Ringwood or Preston), so even more incentive to move up to 2nd place if we can! Also, the format for finals is 4 singles matches and 2 doubles matches.

Onto Rd 13 this coming weekend. The scheduled team is Nosti (captain), Dennis, Alan & Victor. It is singles format, playing at home against the current top side Ringwood Catholic at 1pm on Saturday 25th July.

(I have given Alan the new balls and score sheet).

This will be a good test as we come into finals, so good luck to the team for this weekend.
