Storming to the Front

Roosters v Parkdale at Home, 15 Feb

Well, really, all there is to say is that Bruce McAvaney RAN OUT of  things to say.
In the end, he could only gasp: "SPECIAL! Very special."

The battle for top spot ended in a rout.
Capybarases Rule
Roosters up 3-1.
Clear highlight was the Dynamic Duo – Caviar Nick and Reborn Sean – doing a Mitchell Johnson on Parkdale's finest by dropping just TWO games in four sets.
The question, of course, is whether they have peaked too soon.
Still, serious psychological damage has been done to our old foes.

While CN and RS were turning on their masterclass, Brian and Forrest had to labour longer, much longer, in what turned out to be torrid conditions. Still, they got home in straight sets in the first rubber and then – buoyed by a return appearance by one of the Golden Greeks, Ol' DK himself – started like a train against Perry and Barry, were briefly derailed, prevailed in the second, went into a third (despite Forrest graciously offering the visitors the opportunity to practise their tie-break tactics) and then sat out a brief rain-break before falling in the third.

This 3-1 result was enough to vault Roosters into top spot.
But with two rounds still to go, then finals, no chocolates are being unwrapped just yet.

Thanks to ALL supporters.
Including John C, for the drinks… (He claims, incidentally, to have taught Sean everything.)

Parkdale boys were clearly nonplussed by evidence of Roosters' depth, noting Neale, Vic and Peter  (and, yes, you too Rebecca) all practising on the far court as afternoon tea was uncorked.
