Phat Albert Park....

Aug 20, 2011: Semi-finals vs MCC at Lauriston
Well, phat Albert Park stepped up to the mark and gave our old nemesis MCC a hiding on the en-tout-cas courts of Lauriston, It was a gorgeous windless, warm sunny day and the tennis was closely fought; most enjoyable. Congrats to Nick, Nosti and Alan for a great win despite having Mark (replacing Deano) as a handicap. Scores were 37-29, Nick & Mark (10-6,10-4), Nosti & Alan (10-8,6-10).
Thanks also to the peanut gallery Kevin, for his untiring coaching from the baseline,   and Yuri for shooting the whole spectacle on video and threatening to streak across the courts if the games started to go against us….

The inaugaral singing of the Albert Park Team Anthem

sung to the tune of "Oh Christmas Tree"
YO ALBERT PARK
YO ALBERT PARK
WE PISS ON TEAMS
AND MAKE OUR MARK
WE PUNCH THEIR NOSE AND KICK THEIR ARSE
CAUSE WE'RE SO F**KING FULL OF CLASS

HEY HEY HEY
FAT ALBERT PARK!!!!

Next Snatch (Preliminary finals)
We’re up against Parkdale next Saturday, again at Lauriston, who had to forfeit on Saturday due to injuries and who have been struggling to field a team recently, so we are not sure if there will be a match or we’ll get walk-over. The phat team will be Nick, Dean, Nosti & Alan. The bestest of luck guys!!

Just a reminder once again of the rules; match is decided on the # of games won, not the sets (unless it’s a draw), so focus on not losing/bleeding games rather than winning the set (although it should amount to the same thing! J ). Here is the official ruling:
Ten Game Sets – Rule2 No5 – Matches shall consist of four straight ten game sets in which each pair shall play each of the opposing pairs. In all matches, the majority of games shall decide the match, games being equal sets to decide.

The Big Tissue

Non-existent save Alan bringing a Boston bun (Nick’s favourite) and Nosti some posh crisps, we were left enjoying our spoils alone in the Clubhouse. Our opponents left for home, the other teams finished earlier, and no formal Afternoon Tea was provided by Lauriston. Pathetic effort really; when are the Bayside Comp organisers going to realise that afternoon tea is an institutional ritual at weekend club-level tennis….

Oh no, not again…
Even the naysayers are coming around to believing that we are probably going to win this competition, so the non-finals playing Team members are plotting to overthrow The Captain before the season end to deny him some supposed glory. The leadership battle continues! Gee, I wonder who the ring leader is…. ??
