Obama Not The Only Winner!

Well, write this date down. In time it may be regarded either as The Day It All Turned Around or, more likely, The Day We Learned We Are NOT The Worst Team Going Around.

A very good day for Wing Commander Yuri. Not only could he relax in the spectators' seats - along with Kevin, making a welcome comeback - he had NO 11th-hour withdrawals to deal with. AND enough people actually turned up on Thursday evening - Go Rebecca! - to make it feel like an actual practice session.

So. Match report. Not  much to say, really. At halftime we were in unfamiliar territory, leading two rubbers to zip. Senior Citizens Brian and Forrest efficient in coasting through two sets for the loss of just two games; the Dads' Club - Vic and Mark - being profligate in conceding all of three games.

Pattern continued in reverse matches. This time Forrest and Brian surrendered all of one game.

But, meanwhile on Centre Court, Vic and Mark - cunningly using match as Clubs Champs training - won the first set. Then, against the flow, lost the second. Which took them into a deciding maxi tie-break.

In which they swept to a 11-7 lead. FOUR match-points. And then, and then.... You really had to be there. Really.

No harm done, really. Victory (remember that?) 3-1.

Memo Dennis: Splendid afternoon tea was laid on. ALL of Mark's girls arrived to help with silver service. Oysters, smoked salmon, souffles, barbecued octopus (tribute to absent Greeks). All terribly classy.

On we go. Having learned what happens when selected side takes the court.

We have Deano back this week and with Nick play a team we should beat. It's a tough task but we can still make the finals but need some good wins like we had on Saturday.

Club Champs are on this weekend so watch out for all the action.

Not a great turn out for the Port Melbourne Cup. I was the only rooster (apart from Bec) that played.

The place is super kid friendly so give it a go next time.

A lot of confusion re my Dean comment about his lack of skirt chasing. He has stopped chasing because he has "caught" said skirt. No need to chase anymore. Way to go Deano!
