Match Report.
Weather ominous. Drizzle. Deano hopes to stay in bed. Starts making calls
suggesting a washout around 7am. Weather clears. Deano gets up. Brian B,
meanwhile, has been Brian Busy, doing a string of media interviews about
his FIRST HOME MATCH as an official Rooster. Fox Sports TV truck sets up
in St Vincent Gardens to cover this event.
On way to match, Forrest Gump has brainwave: he should play again with Pole
Dancer after previous week?s temporary setback. Redemption beckons. Captain
Yuri assents to this suggestion but then promptly retires to have lunch and
perhaps also take strong drink.
Deano and Brian, up against our favourite poetic pair, Barry and Perry ?
or is it Berry and Parry? ? vindicate Fox Sport?s decision by prevailing
10-9.
Forrest and Pole D, meanwhile, go 1-0 up, then 2-0, 3-0, 4-0, 5-0, 6-0, 7-0,
then ? thrown by strange format which means they do not already have one
set in the bag ? go 7-1, 7-2 then

...and so that was it. All players shook hands like the gentlemen they are.Distinct chill noted in Scotland-Poland ties.
Special thanks to spectators: Kevin (welcome back!); Peter D; Pole Dancer?s
entire brood ? in time for tea; Sacha Baron Yuri; Debbie (Deano?s racquet
stringer); Nick Caviar (making a cameo), who now gazes at Forrest like Dr
Freud considering an especially intriguing patient. (Dr Vic, with Levi, later
confirms diagnosis.)
Second round of matches: Brian and Deano continue on as they left off, Brian
thinking what a doddle this comp is, Deano deciding it was worth getting
up, after all. A 10-5 result is in the books. Pole Dancer and Forrest fight
on, the latter being blissfully unaware of match standings, though he has
noticed that SB Yuri is hyperventilating on the sidelines. Ignorance is bliss,
as he has to serve to stave off defeat. Service is held, with Pole Dancer
proficiently swatting flies at net. Then Barry/Perry holds to ensure a tie.
Ah well, beats losing. Though chance for victory has been squandered.
Players adjourn to watch pies warm and discuss tight finish.
Thaw detected in Scot-Pole relationship, especially as Forrest does NOT drop
PD?s youngest child.
On we go. Glenhuntly awaits, quaking.
