Round 9 Match Report

V Parkdale away 

(where Nick dares not tread)

Saturday 10th December

Parkdale 3 Alb Park 1

The Albert Park Roosters maintained clever strategy of NOT peaking (or was that pecking) too soon.

As experts note, you NEVER want to be leading in the Melbourne Cup first time past the post.

Sadly, we are well past post by now.

Still, points are merited by sticking to tactics.

So, team of stalwarts (Dean, Vic, Neale and Alan) that bore LITTLE resemblance to team on original roster (typo rooster)  made trip to Parkdale.

Dry, dusty, faraway Parkdale.

For match that started in baking sun and ended in rain. Ah, Melbourne…

Results of first two matches (played on adjoining courts) can be explained by delicate sensitivities of visitors being upset by FOUL LANGUAGE flowing, non-stop, from Perry the Parkdale Number One.

EVERY serve that did not go in resulted in loud comment about a duck. Or something similar.

Neale, especially, was thrown by this. And he wasn’t even playing Perry at first.

Half-time: Parkdale 2: Visitors 0.

Then things looked up. It rained.

For a while a washout looked likely.

But being real men (us, not them) we continued.

Neale, still battling language – now closer up – battled valiantly with Vic but succumbed.

While Deano and Alan saved Yuri’s position as Skipper for another week by winning in straight sets despite VERY dodgy call that would have brought up match-point.

Afternoon tea: disappointing. 

Not a single cake to be seen.

Thanks to all specta… Hang on. There were NO spectators.

Suddenly the result makes perfect sense.

NEXT WEEK

Home. If Nick gets lift and leave-pass, he may even join us.

So it's the captains and an anointed wordsmith ex president in the last game for 2011.

We're back the first week of February so the roosters roostered please be informed!

Now if anyone wants to comment on the farcical club champs please do.

Captain's comment -we have a great tournament ref in Arnie who should be allowed to do his job. He's only a mobile call away. As for Patrick being dumped and Dean and Nosti's game being changed mid game I reckon it's a disgrace. Shame on you Mr. Pres.

Minor Note:
I want to point out that I took a massive tumble in the very first game
and when the huge cloud of "On-tou-Carre" (check spelling????)
settled...I was never the same. Im still not the same...I may never be the same???

My apologies to Vic as I seemed to have let him down for the rest of the day.

But I want you to know that I "drew blood" for the team.
Yes, that's right... I bleed for the club.
When the going gets tough, the tough get going.
You have to put in the hard yards,
put in the extra effort and 'Bleed' for the Roosters.
How many of you can say that ...hey?????

Okay now that;s it!

Nice drive out with Dean....(but Crap music Deano)
need something else to inspire us before the match.
Afterwards ....Cup of tea nice. Beers also good.
